Houghton Revisited: Masterpieces from the Hermitage 17 May – 29 September 2013 Houghton Hall, King’s Lynn, Norfolk PE31 6UE One of the most eagerly anticipated events this summer for the UK art world will be the return of around 60 masterpieces from the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg to their former home, Houghton Hall in Norfolk. Most of these paintings have never left Russia since their acquisition by Catherine the Great in 1779 from the private collection of former prime minister Robert Walpole, and their brief visit to England provides a rare opportunity to see these masterpieces in a stunning country setting. Artists featured include Murillo, Poussin, Rembrandt, Rubens and Van Dyck. For details and tickets visit http://www.houghtonrevisited.com/ | |
