WIN A TRIP TO RUSSIA!
Vote for the best book at the Russian stand /Y505/
For your chance to win a trip to Russia, come to Academia Rossica’s stand at the LBF (Y505). At the stand you will be able to mingle with those at the cutting edge of Russian literary endeavour, see what they have been producing and find out about the myriad of events organised by Academia Rossica at the LBF and for Russian Literature Week 2009.
This year’s BOOKS FROM RUSSIA stand will be the biggest yet and will be showcasing a variety of publishing work ranging from contemporary Russian fiction, to academic work and scientific writings. The stand will provide an insight into the flourishing Russian book market in all of its various guises. As testament to the continued interest in Russian literature of recent years, translated works will also be on show. From the memoirs of influential Russian figures to contemporary poetry, the wealth of translated work is a sign that Russian books are making themselves heard in the publishing world.
The displays at the BOOKS FROM RUSSIA stand will be accompanied by a programme of seminars and presentations, providing a unique appraisal of the Russian book market. Join us for discussions on how the current economic downturn is affecting publishing houses, reading practices in Russia and how these have changed with the advent of the internet, and the trajectory of contemporary writing - has the great Russian novel returned? Join us at our stand for interviews with new Russian writers, and for presentations about literary prizes and translations.
