EIFMAN BALLET COMPANY

3-4 April Anna Karenina & 6-7 April Onegin, London Coliseum

There’s no doubt any longer that the choreographer Boris Eifman is an amazing magician of the theatre. Probably the only thing one can still have doubts about is whether he is the last leading choreographer of the 20 century or the first choreographer of the 21st. - Clive Barnes, New York Post.

Boris Eifman has created more than forty dance works for his company and has toured extensively across the world; he now brings two productions to London for the first time: Anna Karenina and Onegin. The Company is distinguished by its dazzling dance intellect, brilliant technique and gift for transformation that has fascinated audiences world-wide.

    Anna Karenina

‘Anna Karenina is among Eifman’s greatest works… relentless in its energy and merciless in its emotional impact’ Robert Johnson, Star-ledger

Boris Eifman’s astonishing choreography re-tells the fate of Tolstoy’s famous literary figure with a visceral energy which makes this production unforgettable; focusing on the Anna-Karenin-Vronsky love triangle rather than other plot lines. With music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.

    Onegin

‘Emotional intensity, sinuous technique, and a fierce sensuality characterize the Eifman Ballet’s Onegin. With his edgy reimagining of Alexander Pushkin’s 19th century Russian literary classic Eugene Onegin, Artistic Director Boris Eifman has created a thrill-a-minute, white-water rafting ride of a ballet that propels the audience into a maelstrom of conflicting passions set in a post-Soviet Russia of the early 1990s’ Orange County Register – California
