Cultural Policy and Collaboration . in World Cinema . Roundtable discussion 29 September 2008, 10am - 4pmBAFTA, 195 Piccadilly, LondonThe closing event of the Festival will be a roundtable discussion at BAFTA on Monday, 29 September. It will be a high-profile event, with key speaker including international film experts such as Andrei Plakhov and Tom Luddy, as well as the Russian President's Special Representative for Cultural Collaboration, Mikhail Shvydkoy. The topic under discussion will be cultural policy and international collaboration in filmmaking and film distribution.
The roundtable is organised jointly by Academia Rossica, a London-based Russian culture and arts foundation, and the Institute of International Expertise (Moscow). as part of the 2nd Russian Film Festival in London. The aim of the roundtable is to discuss role and significance of filmmaking in the development of contemporary society, establishing a platform for further open exchange of professional opinions between European countries. Leading international experts will be addressing the issues of interaction between filmmakers and governments, the globalisation impact on filmmaking process, collaboration between the countries, cultural and spiritual influence, and the issue of international regulations.
