Academia Rossica works tirelessly to promote Russian film in the United Kingdom.
Our various projects aim to raise awareness of Russian film not only amongst members of the general public but also in the British Film Industry.
Our Projects:
The Russian Film Festival in London was started in 2007 and has grown to become a key event in London’s cultural calendar, presenting the best award-winning feature films of the year, complimented with programmes of documentaries and animation. Every year directors, actors and producers come to London to present their films. The 6th Russian Film Festival will be returning in November 2012
KINOKLUB, London’s premier Russian Film Club shows 12 new Russian films a month at the Apollo Piccadilly Cinema. Many of the films are presented by special guests, and members are entitled to attend exclusive events and choose the films they want to see!
Since starting in November 2011, KinoKlub has gone from strength to strength, drawing sell out crowds to the films Nosferatu, Boris Godunov and Yolki 2012!
Co-Production & Distribution
Academia Rossica, in partnership with the BFI and Russian Film Fund organised the First Russian-British Co-Production & Distribution Forum as part of the Russian Film Festival 2011. Taking place at the BFI Southbank on the 11th November, the day drew over 50 Russian and British producers and distributors to discuss further collaboration between these two great film industries. The day was hailed a great success and plans for the second forum are already underway.
Academia Rossica with the support of the Russian Cinema Fund is planning more initiatives to support co-production and get more Russian films into general distribution.
