MacDougall’s Russian Art Auction on 4 June 2014 will feature important works by key figures of the Russian avant-garde, including Robert Falk, Pavel Kuznetsov, Mikhail Larionov, Natalia Goncharova and many others.

Roman Liberov is a documentary filmmaker and animator. He trained at the BBC specializing in documentary filmmaking, where he then worked for six years. Ilfandpetrov forms part of a cycle of animated documentaries about Russian writers, including Yuri Olesha, Joseph Brodsky, Georgi Vladimov, and Sergei Dovlatov.

Calvert 22 presents highlights from the Innovation Prize, the official state award for contemporary visual arts in Russia. Best described as the Turner prize of Russian art, this is the first time art from the Innovation Prize has been shown outside of Russia.

He decided to call his aunt before his departure, anyway. Typically, he was the first to make a conciliatory move. The important thing here was not to curry favor or pander, but to conduct himself as if there hadn’t been a real quarrel – a mere trifle, a light tiff. “So, tell me,” he asked, “what should I bring you – castañuelas?” “Go to hell!” she snapped. But her voice conveyed a certain satisfaction that he’d telephoned – that he’d called despite everything, hadn’t flown off, chirring his little wings.
