Rules & Regulations

 

 

 

(i)      All entries must reach James Rann at Academia Rossica on or before Friday 25th March 2011. Entries received after this deadline will not be sent to the judges. 

 

(ii)     All candidates must be aged 24 or under on this day (25th March 2011) to be eligible to enter the competition. 

 

(iii)    All translations must be of one of the three texts available on the 

Academia Rossica website. Translations of any other work will not be 

considered. The texts are: 

 

Евгений Водолазкин, Соловьев и Ларионов (extract)

Лев Данилкин, Гагарин (extract) 

Анна Старобинец, Живущий (extract)

(iv)     The texts must be translated into English.

 

(v)     Entries may be submitted electronically (james.rann@academia-rossica.org) or by post to:

(vi)   Each entry must include: 

‐ The translator’s name. 

‐ The translator’s date of birth. 

‐ The educational institution to which the translator is attached 

(if applicable). 

 

(vii)      Group translations are permitted. However, the name, date of birth and educational institution of every translator must be included with the submission.   

 

The short-list will be announced on Friday, April 8th. The winner will be announced at 10.30 on Wednesday April 13th at the PEN Literary Cafe at the London Book Fair. The winning translator will receive £500 and have the opportunity to meet Russia’s leading writers, including the authors featured here, at the Russian Market Focus at London Book Fair.
